Cloud County women have four honored

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference released the NJCAA All-Region VI Teams on Monday, with four Cloud County Community College women's soccer players receiving national honors.
For the second year in a row, sophomore defenseman Ingrid Castro earned First-Team All-Region VI. A trio of Cloud County freshmen — Franciele Cupertino, Fernanda Peinado and Izabella Christina — were awarded Second-Team selections.
Castro, also a two-time All-Conference player for the T-Birds, matched her freshman season goal total with six goals as a sophomore. She also added a pair of assists in addition to anchoring the T-Birds back line.
Cloud County finished 15-3 overall and limited opponents to a 1.44 goals against average while scoring at a 4.56 goals per game clip.
The three-headed attack of Peinado, Cupertino and Christina led the potent T-Birds' offense in scoring this season.
Peinado scored a team-high 18 goals. Christina was third on the team with 15 goals and Cupertino proved to be a dynamic playmaker, finishing with 16 goals and 16 assists for a team-high 48 points.
