CNB falls to Clay Center

Citizens National Bank resumed K-18 Baseball play Tuesday night with a 19-7 loss to Clay Center at the Concordia Sports Complex.
The season had been halted for Citizens National Bank by COVID-19.
Clay Center, sending 16 batters to the plate, put up 12 runs in the top of the first inning.
Citizens National Bank cut the deficit in half with six runs in the bottom of the first.
Payton Breese reached base on an error to lead off the inning, and Dustin Sterrett doubled.
Breese scored on a wild pitch.
A single by Caleb Hanson got Sterrett home.
Hanson scored on an error on a ball hit by Keegun Beims.
Jace Tholstrup singled and Ashton Dooley walked.
Beims scored on a ground ball by Maddox Frey.
Braeden Primeaux knocked in a run with a single.
A base hit by Justus Trost plated Frey.
Three runs in the second inning and four in the top of the third gave Clay Center a 19-6 advantage.
Dooley walked and scored on a wild pitch for Citizens National Bank in the bottom of the third.
The game ended after three innings.
Beims, Dooley, Hanson and Frey did the pitching for Citizens National Bank.
Sterrett and Trost had two hits each in the game.
Clay Center won the three-inning, non-league game played between the two teams on Tuesday.
Scoring five runs in the first inning and five in the top of the second, Clay Center led 10-0.
Citizens National Bank scored its only two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Lennon Ninemire walked and scored and Christian Belden was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Drew Sterrett.
Clay Center tacked on five runs in the third inning.
Sterrett, Tholstrup and Wyatt Franz did the pitching for Citizens National Bank.
Tholstrup had two hits.
