CNB knocks off Republic County

BELLEVILLE — Taking advantage of five walks and two hit batters, Citizens National Bank erupted for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away from Republic County 12-4 in K-18 Baseball NCK League play Wednesday night.
Citizens National Bank led just 5-4 heading into the top of the final inning.
Joey Henderson, Cav Carlgren, Payton Breese, and Ashton Dooley walked and scored in the inning.
Keegun Beims and Braeden Primeaux were hit by pitches and scored.
Drew Benfer singled and scored.
Alexis Garcia had a single and Caleb Hanson doubled.
Hanson held Republic County scoreless in the bottom of the seventh.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday night, but was rained out.
Hanson singled and scored a run in the top of the first inning to give Citizens National Bank a 1-0 lead.
Single runs in the first and second innings put Republic County on top 2-1.
Citizens National Bank tied the game at 2-2 when Carlgren walked and scored in the top of the third.
Republic County pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning to go back on top, 3-2.
Henderson doubled and scored and Carlgren walked and scored in the top of the fifth inning, and Citizens National Bank led 4-3.
A run in the top of the sixth gave Citizens National Bank a 5-3 cushion.
Republic County closed the gap to 5-4 with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Citizens National Bank then used the big seventh inning to break the game open.
Carlgren, Henderson and Hanson did the pitching for Citizens National Bank.
Benfer had three hits for Citizens National Bank.
Hanson and Henderson had two hits and scored two runs each.
In the three-inning non-league game played Wednesday night, Citizens National Bank scored five runs in the top of the third inning to pull out a 6-4 win.
Republic County got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Citizens National Bank made it 4-1 with a run in the second inning.
Four runs on three hits in the top of the third gave Citizens National Bank the 6-4 advantage.
Breese and Dooley pitched for Citizens National Bank.
Alan Garcia had two hits.
