Concordia girls capture team title

BELLEVILLE — Four runners placed in the top 15 individually to lead the Concordia High School girls to the team title in the Republic County Invitational cross country meet Thursday at Belleville Country Club.
Concordia won the meet with 37 points. Marysville was second with 43 and Clay Center was third with 62.
Sophomore Jaida Koester led the way for the Panthers by placing third in 23:15.40.
Junior Jordan Gilkeson ran 23:18.84 to place fifth for Concordia.
Harleigh Smith, a senior, crossed in 13th place in 25:19.11.
Senior Emma Losh ran 25:41.29 to finish 15th.
Freshman Megan Barr rounded out the top five for Concordia by placing 37th in 30:22.82.
The Panthers had sophomore Peyton Johnson place 39th in 31:24.80 and sophomore Moyra Barnes finish 42nd in 32:25.90.
Jane Letourneau, Beloit-St. John's, won the race in 22:33.77.
The Concordia boys had just two runners compete in the meet.
Sophomore Alan Garcia turned in a time of 19:22.54 to place ninth.
Freshman Qwinter Zimmerman finished 42nd in 23:15.97.
Caleb Eilert, Beloit-St. John's, was the individual champion in 17:49.32.
Marysville won the boys' team title with 35 points. Clay Center was second with 36 and Republic County was third with 100.
The Concordia Junior High School girls had two runners place in the top five individually in the 1.5 mile race.
Hannah Bridwell placed third in 10:34.32.
Mya Niehues finished fourth in 10:36.49.
Concordia's Aubrey Stahlman was 11th in 11:59.72.
Isabelle Alexander finished 23rd in 15:55.98 and Anastasya Schrieber was 27th in 22:09.29.
Serrena Bonfonti, Smith Center, won the race with a time of 10:14.03.
The Concordia boys had two runners finish in the top 10.
Brandon Wahlmeier placed eighth with a time of 10:32.67 and Joel Gross was ninth in 10:33.51.
The other Concordia runners competing, their times and placings, were:
Jagger Johnson, 10:54.47, 14th; Isaias Irigoyen, 11:00.95, 16th; Danner Benfer, 12:28.12, 28th; Quinn Kymer, 12:36.21, 32nd; Joe Berk, 13:12.41, 37th; and Clayton Viereck, 13:15.33, 38th.
Brett Hoffman, Clay Center, won the race in 9:33.90.
