Concordia Lions shut out Belleville, advance to semifinals

The Concordia Lions advanced to the semifinals of the 53rd Kansas Peewee Baseball Association State Tournament by shutting out Belleville 3-0 in a quarterfinal matchup Tuesday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
The other Concordia team in the tournament, Concordia Chevrolet/Buick, was eliminated with a 13-3 loss to Washington.
Chevrolet/Buick had knocked off Clyde 10-0 in the opening round of the tournament Monday night.
In other quarterfinal games played Tuesday night, the Smith Center Chiefs downed Linn 13-3 and the Beloit Hornets got past Waconda, 8-5.
The Lions will play Washington in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Smith Center takes on Beloit at 7 p.m. Thursday in the other semifinal.
The championship game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Friday. The third-place game will be played at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Lions scratched out single runs in the first, third and fourth innings to get past Belleville.
Logan Jackson walked with one out in the bottom of the first inning and scored on a single by Rush LeDuc to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
LeDuc walked and scored in the third inning to make it a 2-0 game.
The Lions went up 3-0 when Parker Jackson walked and came around to score in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Chane Parker and Drake Blochlinger combined on a one-hitter for the Lions.
Parker pitched a hitless inning and two-thirds. He struck out three.
Blochlinger gave up one hit in three and a third innings. He struck out 10.
Chevrolet/Buick got out to a 3-0 lead on Washington in the top of the first inning in the quarterfinal matchup.
Boone Richard led off the inning with a double and came around to score.
Kale Schroeder and Baylor Knox each singled and scored in the inning
Sending 14 batters to the plate, Washington put up 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Washington added one run in the second inning to make it an 11-3 game.
Scoring two runs in the third inning, Washington ended the game because of the 10-run rule.
Knox had two hits for Chevrolet/Buick.
In the opening round on Monday night, Chevrolet/Buick took a 4-0 lead on Clyde in the first inning.
Chevrolet/Buick then tacked on four runs in the third inning to make it 10-0.
The game ended after three innings.
Richard pitched the shutout for Chevrolet/Buick. He struck out five. He also scored two runs.
Deekon Holbert also scored two runs.
