Eighth grade girls thump Fort Riley

MARYSVILLE — Cruising to a 28-9 victory over Fort Riley Wednesday, the Concordia eighth grade girls' basketball team moved into the semifinals of the North Central Kansas League Tournament.
The Panthers play the winner of the game between Chapman and Abilene this afternoon. The championship game and third-place game follow the semifinals.
Concordia led Fort Riley 11-4 after one quarter of play.
The Panthers scored just three points in the second stanza, but held Fort Riley to two points, and it was a 14-6 game at halftime.
Concordia outscored Fort Riley 12-2 in the third period to go up 26-8.
The Panthers gave up one point in the fourth quarter, and scored two.
Madison Meyer scored 10 points for the Panthers.
Carlie Carlgren added nine points.
