F&A Food Sales rallies past Beloit, advances to title game

Nathan Brown doubled home two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give F&A Food Sales a 6-5 victory over Beloit in the semifinals of the K-18 Baseball East Regional Tournament Thursday night at the Concordia Sports Complex.
F&A Food Sales trailed Beloit 5-3 heading into the bottom half of the final inning.
Kale Pearson was hit by a pitch to lead off and Reece Knox walked.
A single by Logan Leiszler drove in Pearson.
Knox was thrown out at third base.
Keyan Miller drew a walk and Shelby Giersch singled.
Leiszler was also thrown out running the bases.
With two out, Miller stole third and Giersch stole second.
Brown then delivered the two-run double that gave F&A Food Sales the win.
F&A Food Sales will play Clifton-Clyde in the championship game at 8:30 tonight.
Clifton-Clyde knocked off Republic County 13-5 in the other semifinal game Thursday night.
Beloit and Republic County will meet in the third-place game at 6:30 tonight.
The top four teams advance to the state tournament to be played July 27, 28 and 31 in Lucas.
Beloit Red grabbed a 2-0 lead on F&A Food Sales in the top of the first inning.
Ben Thompson singled and scored on a double by Jaret Eitzmann.
Owen Eilert knocked in Eitzmann.
F&A Food Sales tied the game at 2-2 with two runs in the second inning.
Dalton Owen led off with a single and scored on a triple by Alec Francis.
A ground ball by Pearson plated Francis.
Two runs in the top of the fourth inning gave Beloit the lead back at 4-2.
Brennan Walker doubled and Caylen Chancellor singled.
A fly ball by Wesley Adolph got Walker home.
Logan Arasmith singled to drive in Chancellor.
Brown singled and scored on a fly ball by Francis in the bottom of the fourth, and F&A Food Sales trailed 5-3.
Beloit made it a 5-3 game in the top of the sixth inning when Arasmith singled to drive in Chancellor.
F&A Food Sales then rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Giersch pitched the first six and two-thirds innings for F&A Food Sales. Brown worked an inning and a third.
Arasmith and Walker did the pitching for Beloit.
Brown had three hits and drove in two runs for F&A Food Sales.
Giersch had three hits.
Owen had two hits and Francis drove in two runs.
In the other semifinal game, Clifton-Clyde led Republic County just 4-3 through three innings.
Clifton-Clyde pushed the lead to 7-3 with three runs in the fourth inning.
Sending 11 batters to the plate, Clifton-Clyde erupted for six runs in the top of the fifth inning to make it a 13-3 game.
Republic County scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The game ended after five innings because of the eight-run rule.
