Gilkeson paces Concordia girls

BELOIT — Freshman Jordan Gilkeson led the Concordia High School girls' cross country runners in the Beloit Invitational Thursday at Beloit Country Club.
Gilkeson turned in a time of 22:39.32 to place 17th.
Sophomore Harleigh Smith, making her season debut, ran 24:34.76 to finish 31st for the Panthers.
Sera Peters, a freshman, placed 34th in 24:52.79.
Sophomore Emma Losh was one spot back in 35th with a time of 24:54.98.
Jaycee Vath, Lincoln, was the individual champion in 19:27.49.
Concordia, with just four runners, did not score as a team.
Bennington won the team title with 42 points. Beloit was second with 56and Abilene was third with 76.
Austin Kilian was the lone Concordia boy competing in the meet. He placed 53rd in 20:32.99.
The Concordia junior high boys finished fourth as a team with 97 points.
Abilene won the meet with 53 points. Minneapolis also scored 53 points, and was second. Republic County was third with 85.
Billy Wahlmeier paced Concordia with a 13th-place finish in 12:45.40
Cody Trost ran 13:24.52 to finish 19th.
Gabe Stephens was 27th in 13:50.75.
Wyatt Franz crossed in 34th place in 14:29.74 and Dylan Terrill was 53rd in 15:40.97.
Kaiden Esfeld, Great Bend Middle School, won the race with a time of 10:27.51.
The Concordia junior high girls scored 95 and placed fourth.
Great Bend was first with 26 points. Beloit was second with 64 and Bennington was third with 70.
Megan Barr placed 10th for Concordia with a time of 14:16.50.
Moyra Barnes ran 15:33.46 to finish 27th.
Peyton Johnson crossed in 33rd place in 15:58.02.
Paige McWhorter finished 42nd in 17:21.17 and Acadia Waterman was 43rd in 17:36.29.
