Lions win District tournament

CLIFTON — The Concordia Lions captured the Peewee Baseball District 3 championship by knocking off Clifton 8-1 on Friday night.
Two pitchers combined on a one-hitter, and Rush LeDuc and Chane Parker drove in two runs each to propel the Lions to the win.
Drake Blochlinger pitched the first four innings for the Lions. He gave up one run on one hit, struck out 10 and walked one.
Parker struck out three consecutive Clifton batters to end the game.
Clyde rolled past Southern Cloud 19-1 in the third-place game on Friday night.
The top three teams advance to the Kansas Peewee Association State Tournament to be played at the Concordia Sports Complex starting tonight.
The Lions grabbed a 3-0 lead on Clifton in the bottom of the first inning.
Logan Jackson singled with one out, and LeDuc drove him in.
Parker knocked in Jackson with a base hit and scored on a single by Parker Jackson.
Clifton scored its only run in the top of the second inning to make it a 3-1 game.
The Lions extended the lead to 8-1 with five runs in the third inning.
Logan Jackson led off with a single. He scored on a double by LeDuc.
A base hit by Parker got LeDuc home.
Parker would score the third run in the inning.
Parker Jackson was hit by a pitch and came around to score.
Stratton Garst walked and scored.
Parker had three hits and scored two runs for the Lions.
LeDuc and Logan Jackson scored two runs each.
The Lions will play the winner of the game between the Smith Center Warriors and Belleville at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Clifton faces Waconda in the opening round tonight.
Concordia Chevrolet/Buick is scheduled to take on Clyde at 7:00 tonight in the first round.
Chevrolet/Buick tumbled to the Beloit Hornets 1-0 in the District 1 title game played Friday night in Concordia.
