Miller, Wahlmeier win events for CHS in own invitational

Katlynn Miller and Emma Wahlmeier won individual events for the Concordia High School girls in their own invitational meet on Friday..
Miller, who won the long jump with a leap of 16-2 ½, placed in four events for the Panther girls. She tied for second in the triple jump (33-1 ¾), and was fourth in the discus (91-1) and sixth in the shot put (31-0).
Wahlmeier turned in a time of 1:02.87 to place first in the 400-meter dash. She was second in the 100 (13.83)
Because of issues with the results, final team scores had not been determined.
The Concordia girls finished fourth in their first meet of the season.
Beloit won the team title.
The Panther boys placed eighth.
Beloit finished first as a team.
“With it being the first meet, we found out we still have a long ways to go,” Concordia coach Austin Kingsbury said, “I was proud of everybody's effort. It is definitely not where we want to be at the end of the season.”
Karlee Wahlmeier finished second in the shot put for the Concordia girls with a throw of 33-11 ½.
Zoe Bechard finished fifth in the long jump (15-5) and sixth in the triple jump (31-3).
Chloe Conway was fifth in the triple jump (32-0).
Sierra Gropp finished sixth in the 100 (14.17) and in the 400 (1:08.52).
Conway placed fourth in the high jump (4-8) and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.86).
Teggan Workman finished fourth in the javelin (99-10) and Terin Rundus was sixth (95-1/2).
Ava Swihart and Jara Nordell tied for fifth in the high jump (4-6).
Terryl Loeffler placed fifth in the 100 hurdles (18.81).
Concordia's 4x100 relay team of Bechard, Gropp, Conway and Emma Wahlmeier finished third (53.14).
Rundus, Jordan Gilkeson, Liz Duvall and Tessa Christensen placed fifth in the 4x800 relay (13:22.33).
The Concordia boys had Alex Bonebrake place fourth in the discus (126-6) and in the javelin (158-0).
Keyan Miller tied for fourth place in the 200-meter dash (24.58) and fifth in the 100 (12.42).
Concordia's 4x800 relay team of Alexis Garcia, Cav Carlgren, Sajen Kemling and Austin Killian finished fifth (9:37.01).
Cade Anderson finished in a three-way tie for fifth place in the pole vault (9-6).
Oakley Champlin placed sixth in the shot put (41-3 ½).
Concordia will compete in the Ellsworth Invitational on Tuesday and the Smoky Valley Invitational on Friday.
“We come right back with a busy week,” Kingsbury said, “We really try to load them up and treat them as practices.”
