Panther freshman places ninth

ELLSWORTH — Freshman Jordan Gilkeson recorded a top 10 finish for the Concordia High School girls' cross country team in the Ellsworth Invitational Tuesday at Ellsworth Municipal Golf Course.
Gilkeson turned in a time of 15:05.54 to place ninth in the meet.
Concordia sophomore Emma Losh ran 27:41.56 to finish 25th.
Harleigh Smith, a sophomore, placed 27th for the Panthers in 28:09.32.
Freshman Sera Peters finished 29th with a time of 28:15.01.
Taylor Briggs, Chapman, was the individual champion in 20:21.98.
Chapman won the team title with 53 points. Smoky Valley was second with 63 and Beloit was third with 66.
Concordia, with just four runners, did not score as a team.
Sophomore Austin Kilian, the only Concordia boy running in the meet, finished 59th in 25:02.77.
Aaron Modrow, Chapman, won the race in 17:44.89.
Smoky Valley captured first place as a team with 41 points. Hesston was second with 65 and Beloit was third with 74.
Concordia had three junior high runners place in the top 10 in meet.
Megan Barr ran 17:19.94 to finish third in the seventh grade girls' race. Acaidia Waterman was 14th in 22:19.28.
Gabe Stephens placed third for Concordia in the seventh grade boys' race in 14:29.07. Cody Trost finished 13th in 16:13.74 and Wyatt Franz was 15th in 16:35.69.
Billy Wahlmeier ran 14:05.63 to finish seventh for Concordia in the eighth grade boys' competition. Dylan Terrill was 23rd in 17:35.16.
The Concordia eighth grade girls had Moyra Barnes finish 11th in 18:44.78. Paige McWhorter was 12th in 18:58.51 and Peyton Johnson was 13th in 19:23.49.
