Panther runners honored at banquet

Freshman Jordan Gilkeson was presented the Number One Runner Award during the Concordia High School cross country banquet Monday night at Cloud County Community College.
The award is presented to the runner who was consistently the team leader.
Gilkeson placed 17th in the North Central Kansas League meet.
Freshman Sera Peters received the Brent Newton Award which is given to the runner who inspires hard work, desire, spirit and heart in their teammates by working hard every meet and practice and has a true love and dedication to the sport of cross country.
Receiving the “I Challenge You Award” were eighth graders Billy Wahlmeier, Peyton Johnson and Moyra Barnes. The award is presented to runners who have great potential to contribute to the success of the cross country team next year. The challenge is to work hard during the off season and see how much they improve next year.
Girls receiving varsity letters include Gilkeson, Peters and sophomore Emma Losh.
Sophomore Austin Kilian, the lone boy on the team, received a varsity letter.
Receiving a participation award was sophomore Harleigh Smith.
Junior high runners receiving participation awards include Wahlmeier, Johnson, Barnes, Jaida Koester, Megan Barr, Paige McWhorter, Acadia Waterma, Monica Kirkwood, Dylan Terrill Gabe Stephens, Cody Trost and Wyatt Franz.
