Panthers place second in league tourney

MARYSVILLE — Knocking off Chapman and then falling to Marysville, the Concordia eighth grade girls' basketball team placed second in the North Central Kansas League Tournament.
Concordia got past Chapman 37-32 in the semifinals on Thursday.
Marysville then downed the Panthers 42-27 in the championship game.
Concordia trailed Chapman 7-4 after one quarter of play.
Chapman outscored the Panthers 11-8 in the second stanza to go up 18-12 at halftime.
Concordia limited Chapman to five points in the third quarter, and poured in 17, to go up 29-23.
The Panthers added eight points in the final period. Chapman scored nine.
Madison Meyer paced Concordia with 19 points. Carlie Carlgren added 13 points.
Concordia had a 10-9 lead on Marysville at the end of the first quarter.
The Panthers managed just six points in the second period. Marysville scored 13, and led 22-16 at halftime.
Concordia tacked on nine points in the third quarter, to seven for Marysville, and it was a 29-25 game.
The Panthers were outscored 13-2 in the final period.
Meyer scored 11 points for Concordia. Hattie Blackwood tossed in nine points and Carlgren finished with seven.
