Panthers score in bottom of seventh to defeat Wamego

McKenzie Widen scored on a two-out double by Taegen Larsen in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Concordia High School softball team an 11-10 North Central Kansas League victory over Wamego in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday at the Concordia Sports Complex.
The win was the first this season for the Panthers.
Wamego bounced back to win the second game of the twinbill, 20-0.
Game one was tied at 10-10 heading into the bottom half of the seventh inning.
With one out, Kira Kearn singled.
A ground ball by Widen forced Kearn out at second base.
Widen then advanced to second base on a single by Arista Bombardier.
Larsen, who had four hits and drove in three runs in the game, delivered the walk-off double.
Concordia, 1-5 overall and 1-1 in league play, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning in the game.
Larsen led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a passed ball, and scored on a base hit by Allison Poore.
Rachelle Anderson then hit a two-run home run.
Wamego picked up one run in the top of the second inning.
Three runs in the bottom of the second game gave the Panthers a 6-1 advantage.
Kearn singled and stole second.
With two out, Larsen singled to drive in Kearn.
A double by Kendall Reynolds got Larsen home.
Reynolds scored on an error.
Concordia tacked on four runs in the third inning, and led 10-1.
Hailey Budke and Kassidy Leiszler singled and Kearn walked to load the bases.
Widen knocked in two runs with a single.
Bombardier and Larsen followed with run producing singles.
Wamego rallied for five runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth to close the gap to 10-9.
The Red Raiders then tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh inning.
Concordia then scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Widen picked up the win. She allowed 10 runs, five earned, on 10 hits, struck out two, and walked one in seven innings.
The Panthers scored 11 runs on 16 hits.
Reynolds, Poore, Kearn and Bombardier had two hits each.
Poore and Widen drove in two runs each.
Wamego then rolled to the 20-2 victory in game two.
The Red Raiders sent 12 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Two runs in the second inning, two in the third and eight more in the fourth gave Wamego a commanding 20-0 lead.
Concordia scored its only two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Budke walked and Leiszler reached base on a fielder's choice.
Kearn and Jalen Bonner singled to drive in runs.
The game ended after the fourth inning
Budke pitched one inning for Concordia and gave up eight runs, just two earned, on 10 hits. She walked two.
Reynolds allowed 10 runs, five earned, on nine hits and walked two in three innings.
Concordia was limited to four hits.
The Panthers play at Republic County on Thursday.
