Panthers sweep Irish to stay unbeaten in league

Posting a pair of lopsided home wins over the Chapman Irish on Tuesday, the Concordia High School baseball team improved to 4-0 in North Central Kansas League play.
Concordia, now 8-2 overall, erupted for 11 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pick up a 14-4 win in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Panthers shut out Chapman 15-0 in four innings in the second game.
“Obviously there are things we need to work on, but I was pleased with our hitting and our discipline most the day,” Concordia coach Brandt Hutchinson said.
Chapman took a 1-0 in the top of the first inning in game one.
Wyatt Trost walked with one out in the bottom of the first. He stole second and scored on a double by Chas Carlgren to tie the game at 1-1.
Concordia took a 2-1 lead with a run in the second inning.
Chase Parker singled and scored on a base hit by Jacob Williams.
Single runs in the third, fourth and fifth inning gave Chapman a 4-2 advantage.
The Panthers closed the gap to 4-3 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Gavin Thomas reached base on an error.
A sacrifice by Hunter Schroeder got Thomas home.
Concordia then sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning to go up 14-4 and end the game because of the 10-run rule.
Tryston Jocehms, Nick Vignery and Williams singled to load the bases.
Trost and Carlgren walked to force home runs.
Thomas then delivered a three-run double.
Schroeder singled to drive in Thomas. He stole second and scored on a base hit by Tim Peltier.
Jochems collected his second single in the inning.
Vignery's second base hit in the inning drove in Peltier.
Williams walked with the bases loaded to get a run home.
A single by Trost got the final two runs home.
Chase Parker pitched all six innings to get the win. He gave up four runs, two earned, on six hits, struck out nine and walked one.
The Panthers scored 14 runs on 12 hits.
Thomas drove in three runs.
Williams was 2-for-4. He drove in two runs and scored two.
Peltier, Carlgren and Trost knocked in two runs each.
Jochems had two hits and scored two runs.
Three Concordia pitchers combined on a no-hitter in the 15-0 win in the second game of the twinbill.
Thomas pitched a perfect first inning. He struck out two.
Jochems went two innings, struck out four and walked one.
Williams worked a scoreless fourth inning. He struck out two and walked one.
The Panthers scored two runs in the first inning.
Williams and Trost each walked.
A fielder's choice ground ball by Schroeder got Williams home.
Trost scored on an error.
Six runs in the second inning gave the Panthers a 8-0 cushion.
Schroeder had a two-run triple in the inning.
Concordia added five runs in the third inning.
Schroeder, who was 2-for-3 at the plate with five runs batted in, rapped out a second triple to drive in two in the inning.
Scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Panthers ended the game.
Carlgren led off with a single. Ivon Owen and Schroeder walked.
Peltier drew a walk to force home a run.
Owen scored on a fly ball by Parker.
Carlgren had two hits in four at bats, drove in two runs and scored three.
Peltier knocked in two runs.
Owen scored three runs.
