Schroeder places first, CHS finishes fourth

WAMEGO — Concordia High School senior Hunter Schroeder won five straight matches, all by fall, to place first in the 160-pound class at the Raider Invitational hosted by Wamego High School on Saturday.
Schroeder pinned Cooper Chard, Salina Central, in 56 seconds; Nick Hernandez, Tonganoxie, in 37 seconds; and Karsen Smith, Royal Valley, in 1:50.
Moving into the semifinals, Schroeder pinned Dakota Laun, Abilene, in the second period.
Schroeder pinned Chard in 1:37 in the championship match.
Concordia opened its season with a fourth-place finish in the tournament.
The Panthers scored 148 points in the tournament.
Salina Central won the tournament with 331 points. Abilene was second with 239.5 and Ottawa was third with 186.5.
Freshman Keyan Miller finished second in the 152-pound class for the Panthers.
Nathan Brown, 138 pounds, went 4-1 and finished third.
Jordan Anguish, 113 pounds, placed fourth for Concordia.
Sajen Kemling finished fifth in the 106-pound class and Layton Kindel placed fifth in the 170-pound class.
Miller pinned Gabe Setters, Ottawa, in 53 seconds in the opening round. He pinned Maksym Shendryk, Tonganoxie, in 37 seconds and Gunnar Koontz, Effingham, in 1:13.
Advancing to the semifinals, Miller won a 5-2 decision over Brooks Burgoon, Salina Central.
Kray True, Salina Central, pinned Miller in the title match.
Brown won an 18-5 major decision over Braden Mitchell, Sabetha, in the first round. He pinned Maya Ogden, Royal Valley, in 1:14 and Kenneth Crawford, Herington, in 2:41.
Drew Burenheide, Rock Creek, pinned Brown in 55 seconds.
Brown then pinned Tiler Hewitt, Effingham, in the third-place match.
Anguish pinned Tyler Gilchrist, Topeka Hayden in 38 seconds, and Eil Shoup, Rock Creek, in 47 seconds.
William Stroda, Abilene, pinned Anguish in the third round.
Anguish lost by fall to Slade Adam, Salina Central. He then dropped a 9-8 decision to Gage Cooper, Nickerson, in the third-place match.
Kemling posted a 4-1 record in the tournament. He pinned Zack Cunningham, Ottawa, in 41 seconds and Ray Feek, Falls City, Neb. in 41 seconds.
Kaleb Stroda, Abilene, pinned Kemling in the quarterfinals.
Kemling pinned Sal Vita, Tonganoxie, in 58 seconds and pinned Cunningham a second time in the fifth-place match.
Kindel pinned Cael Budke, Chase County, in 1:54. He suffered a 10-5 loss to Cayman Munson, Salina Central, and lost 16-4 to Daidrien Aho, Ottawa.
After pinned Nick Cox, Topeka Hayden, Kindel pinned Trenton Wuthnow, Abilene, in the fifth-place match.
Toby Wahlmeier went 1-4 in the 126-pound class for Concordia. He lost by fall to Colton Scholtz, Effingmham, lost by fall to Isaiah Harder, Salina Central; lost by fall to Brogan Isley, Nickerson; lost by fall to Ryde Kuntz, Abilene; and received a bye.
Cade Anderson, 132 pounds, posted a 1-4 record. He lost by fall to Ethan Kelly, Tonganoxie; pinned Connor White, Topeka Hayden, in 1:06; lost by fall to Drew Burgoon, Salina Central; lost by fall to Kael Lane, Ottawa; and lost by fall to Scott Austin-Riffel, Abilene.
Easton Hake finished 3-2 in the 145-pound class. He pinned Matthew Stevenson, Rock Creek, in 54 seconds; pinned Lane Burns, Falls City, in 1:31; lost by fall to Michael Gugelman, Sabetha; lost by fall to Jace Heckenlively, Falls City; and pinned Burns in 38 seconds in the seventh-place match.
Robert Trost went 2-3 in the 182-pound class for Concordia.
Trost lost by fall to Ivan Smith, Effingham; lost by fall to Taylor Peters, Salina Central; pinned Dayton Bittle, Crock Creek; received a bye; and lost by fall to Dakota Fisher, Falls City.
Dalton Owen, 220 pounds, picked up one win for the Panthers. He lost a 10-2 major decision of Keegan Hunzeker, Falls City; lost by fall to Lucas Anschutz, Herrington; lost by fall to Antonio Espinosa; lost by fall to Brandon Parker, Abilene; and pinned Jordan Roberts, Effingham, in 39 seconds.
The Concordia junior varsity competed in the Salina South Invitational on Saturday.
Kassidy Leiszler, 106A; Logan Leiszler, 106B; and Wyatt Barleen, 152B, placed second for the Panthers.
Kassidy Leiszler pinned Charles Goldbach, Salina Central; defeated Skyleigh Pflaster, Abilene, 3-0; won a 13-0 major decision over Natalie Garza, Great Bend; and lost a 12-2 major decision to Kaden Spargis, Great Bend.
Logan Leiszler defeated Joesph Ensz, Bishop Carroll, 3-1; lost by fall to Javin Welsh, Abilene; pinned Ali Pierce, Great Bend; won a 13-1 major decision over Cooper Adams, Beloit.
Barleen won a 16-4 major decision over Jonathan De La Cruz, Ellsworth; pinned Gannon Mosher, Chapman; lost by fall to Kenny Nelson, Salina South; and won an 11-2 major decision over Brad Vopat, Ellsworth.
Braxton Kindel finished third in the 113B class for Concordia. He lost by fall to Jamison Richie; lost by fall to Adam Lipinski, Bishop Carroll; pinned Hunter Stauffer; pinned Jazmin Castellanos, Great Bend; and pinned Natasha Reyes, Great Bend.
Taskin Kindel was fourth in the 195A class for Concordia. He lost by fall to Terren Andrews, Minneapolis; lost by fall to Karsen Loader, Abilene; pinned Larry Dupree, Great Bend; and lost by fall to Brandon Fletcher, Salina South.
Kenzie Barlett, 195B, finished fourth. She lost by fall to Malachi Williams; lost by fall to Jack Spottedhorse, Bishop Carroll; won a medical forfeit over Blaine Michealson, Minneapolis; lost by fall to Judah Peterson, Junction City; won by forfeit over Tanner Douhgerty, Beloit.
