Six Panthers named to all-league team

Eight members of the Concordia High School baseball team have received All-North Central Kansas League recognition.
Senior pitcher Tryston Jochems, junior infielder Jacob Williams, sophomore infielder Gavin Thomas, sophomore catcher Hunter Schroeder, sophomore outfielder Chas Carlgren and sophomore pitcher Chase Parker were named to the All-NKCL team.
Senior infielder Dyelan Reed and sophomore utility player Wyatt Trost received all-league honorable mention.
Concordia finished the season 15-6 and advanced to the championship game of the Class 3A regional tournament.
The Panthers went 7-1 and tied for first place in the league with Clay Center. It was their second straight league title and eighth in the last 11 years.
Jochems posted a 5-0 record with a one save and a 2.92 earned run average. He struck out 62 in 36 innings.
Williams batted .316 with 18 runs batted in. He led the team with 18 stolen bases and scored 30 runs.
Thomas had a .483 batting average with a team high 27 runs batted in. He scored 21 runs.
Schroeder finished with a .397 average with 21 runs batted in. He stole 15 bases.
Carlgren led the Panthers with a .517 average. He drove in 25 runs and scored a team high 31 runs.
Parker batted .340 with 15 runs batted in. He also led the Panthers with 39 innings pitched and had a 6-2 record with a 1.79 earned run average. He struck out 61.
Reed had a .375 batting average with 15 runs batted in.
Trost batted .279 with 11 runs batted in. He scored 29 runs.
Joining the six Panthers on the all-league team include:
Pitchers Storm Slupianek, Marysville; and Will Rosenow, Clay Center; infielders Dylan Moon, Clay Center; Adler Pierson, Wamego; and Gabe Barten, Chapman; catcher Derek Roever, Marysville; outfielders Andrew Rogers, Wamego; Caden Brinegar, Marysville; Jonny Crome, Marysville; and Dylan Swihart, Clay Center; and utility players Kaden Coup, Abilene; and Keegan McDonald, Clay Center.
Jochems and Reed were named the co-recipients of the Outstanding Senior Baseball Player Award.
