T-Birds again split with Seward County

LIBERAL — Scoring runs in six of seven innings, the Cloud County Community College baseball team rolled to an 18-7 victory over Seward County Community College in the first game of a Jayhawk Conference West Division doubleheader on Saturday.
Seward County won the second game of the twinbill, 12-7.
The two teams opened the conference season by splitting the first two games of the four-game series Thursday in Concordia.
Griffin Larsen and Ed Scott drove in three runs in Cloud County's win in game one on Saturday.
Scott was 3-for-5 at the plate and scored two runs.
Larsen had two hits in four at bats and scored two runs.
Noah Olson hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning as Cloud County got out to a 3-0 lead.
A run in the top of the second inning put the Thunderbirds up 4-0.
Seward County picked up one run in the bottom of the second.
Two runs in the top of the third inning gave Cloud County a 6-1 cushion.
The T-Birds, now 11-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play, extended the lead to 11-1 with five runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Two runs in the bottom of the inning left the Saints trailing 11-3.
Scott had a two-run double in the top of the fifth inning as Cloud County added four runs, and made it 15-3.
The Saints made it 15-7 with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Cloud County pushed across three more runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Tylor Jans got the win for the T-Birds. He pitched four and a third innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits, struck out six and walked two.
Jarod Leroux worked two and two-thirds scoreless innings. He gave up just one hit, struck out three and walked one.
Cloud County scored 18 runs on 14 hits.
Jaden Parsons had two hits and drove in two runs.
Alex Rice had two hits and scored three runs.
Olson knocked in two runs and Clayton Loranger scored four runs.
A run producing single by Larsen and a two-run single by Davis Pratt gave Cloud County a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game two.
Seward County scored one run in the bottom of the inning.
A solo home run by Olson in the top of the second inning put the T-Birds on top 4-1.
The Saints made it 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the second.
Cloud County scored two runs in the top of the third.
Seward County answered with one run in the bottom of the third, four in the fourth and two in the fifth to go on top to stay, 9-6.
Loranger walked with the bases loaded to force home a run in the top of the sixth inning, and Cloud County trailed just 9-7.
The T-Birds would go scoreless over the final three innings.
The Saints added two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Cloud County used four pitchers in the game.
Joseph Karall gave up seven runs, six earned, on nine hits, struck out four and walked two in four innings in taking the loss.
Haden Dow, Trey Asher and Bradan Pierce pitched in relief.
Pratt had two hits in three at bats and drove in three runs.
Olson had two hits and scored two runs.
