T-Birds tumble to Fort Scott

FORT SCOT — Fort Scott Community College knocked off the Cloud County Community College volleyball team in straight sets in  Jayhawk Conference East Division matchup Monday night.
Cloud County suffered a narrow 26-24 defeat in the first set of the match.
Fort Scott went up 2-0 with a 25-18 victory in the second set.
The Greyhounds won the third set 25-21.
Cloud County falls to 16-16 overall and 2-7 in conference play with the loss.
Fort Scott improves to 19-12 overall and 3-5 in the Jayhawk East.
Jessica Williams, a freshman middle blocker from Concordia, led Cloud County with 11 kills.
Sophomore Giovanna Fundaro had 10 kills for the Thunderbirds.
Dayana Chara and Haven Hamilton, both freshman, had six kills each.
Laken Schroeder, a freshman setter from Concordia, finished with 17 assists. Freshman Cammie Miller added 12 assists. Both had six digs.
Sophomore Britt Michaelis had a team high 12 digs.
Shelby Ohlde, a freshman, had five blocks.
The T-Birds will play at home for the final time this season when they host Allen County Community College in a conference match at 6:30 p.m.
“We want to come to the floor Wednesday night and put it all out there and leave with a big win for those sophomores,” Cloud County coach Deb Monzon said, “We want them to be able to finish their career strong on their home court.”
