T-Birds win in four sets

The Cloud County Community College volleyball team defeated the McPherson College junior varsity in four sets Monday night in Bryant Gymnasium.
Cloud County, now 10-9 on the season, cruised to a 25-12 win the first set of the match.
The Thunderbirds went up 2-0 by winning the second set, 25-16.
McPherson squeezed out a 26-24 victory in the third set to make it 2-1.
Cloud County capped off the 3-1win by taking the fourth set, 25-15.
“We had a little bit of a letdown in that third set, but we were able to come back out that fourth set and really put it away,” Cloud County coach Deb Monzon said.
Sophomore outside hitter Giovanna Fundaro had 11 kills and 17 digs for the T-Birds.
Haven Hamilton finished with 10 kills and four blocks.
Jessica Williams added eight kills.
Willow Hunt had 18 digs in the win.
Cloud County utilized a pair of setters in the win. Sophomore Cammie Miller had 22 assists and freshman Laken Schroeder had 21.
Schroeder also had 10 digs.
The T-Birds are on the road to face third-ranked Johnson County Community College on Wednesday night.
