Thompson named to all-conference team

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) released the All-Conference basketball teams on Friday, with a pair of Cloud County men's players receiving award recognition.
Redshirt sophomore Alvin Thompson was one of the conference's top vote getters as he earned First-Team All-KJCCC East after leading the T-Birds in scoring this season at 16.5 points per game. Freshman forward Edoardo Del Cadia also represented Cloud County on the All-Conference teams as he earned Honorable Mention.
Thompson, who shot at a sizzling 50.7 percent clip from the field this season, made major strides from his redshirt freshman season when he averaged 11.6 points per game. After making just three 3-pointers (3-of-17, 18 percent) a year ago, Thompson added that dimension to his game in 2018-19 as he finished a respectable 23-of-54 (43 percent) from deep.
He also added 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season, keying the T-Birds' turnaround from a six-win team in 2017-18 to a 16-15 overall record this winter.
As for Del Cadia, the 6'8, 225-pound Italian averaged 9.7 points and team-high 7.6 rebounds per game as a freshman.
His first season in Concordia was highlighted by a 20-point, 16-rebound effort in just 18 minutes back on Dec. 12, 2018 in Cloud County's 72-64 victory over then ranked No. 7 Hutchinson. The performance would propel Del Cadia to KJCCC Division I Player of the Week honors for week seven.
