Thunderbirds blank McPherson JV, 4-0

MCPHERSON — Capping off the regular season with a game added late to the schedule, the Cloud County Community College men's soccer team shut out the McPherson College junior varsity 4-0 on Sunday.
Sophomore midfielder Lucas Lyra and freshman midfielder Vinicius Melo de Souza each scored their first goals of the season for Cloud County in the win.
Freshman Jackson Brown and sophomore Matheus de Sousa also scored for the Thunderbirds.
Cloud County (12-4-1) finished with 22 shots in the match to just three for McPherson.
Charles Albuquerque had three saves for Cloud County in posting his seventh shutout of the season.
The T-Birds are the number two seed out of the Jayhawk Conference West Division and will host either Johnson County Community College or Kansas City Kansas Community College in the first round of the Region 6 playoffs at 2 p.m. Friday at Harold M. Clark Stadium.
