Thunderbirds top Neosho County

CHANUTE — The Cloud County Community College volleyball team would win three straight sets after dropping the first to defeat Neosho County Community College 3-1 in a Jayhawk Conference East Division matchup Monday night.
Neosho County won the first set, 25-22.
Cloud County, now 21-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play, evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-19 victory in the second set.
The 10th-ranked Thunderbirds then cruised to a 25-14 win in the third set.
Cloud County won the fourth set 25-21.
Sophomore Dayana Chara recorded a season high 30 kills in the win. She also had 13 digs.
Freshman Emelys Martinez added 18 kills and 20 digs.
Riley Bontrager, a freshman setter, had 59 assists.
The T-Birds will host fifth-ranked Fort Scott Community College at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
