Thunderbirds upset No. 6 Cougars, 1-0

Scoring the only goal of the match with just over three minutes remaining, the Cloud County Community College men's soccer team upset sixth-ranked Barton Community College 1-0 on Wednesday.
Wrapping up Jayhawk Conference West Division play with the win, the Thunderbirds finished just a half a game back of Barton in second place in the final standings.
Cloud County, 10-4-1 overall, went 7-2-1 in conference play.
Barton fell to 11-2-1 overall and 8-2 in the conference.
The T-Birds and Cougars would battle to a scoreless tie through the first half. They combined for just three shots on goal.
Each team would have a player pick up a red card and be ejected in the second half, and it was a 10-on-10 match for more than 26 minutes.
The match was still scoreless when a shot on goal by Cloud County's Shaqon Bryan was saved by Barton goalkeeper Marco Seyfert.
Felipe D'Agostini would pick up the rebound and score the only goal of the match to give the T-Birds the 1-0 lead.
Cloud County was able to hold the Cougars off for the final three minutes to record the upset.
The T-Birds were out shot 12-8 in the match, but had five shots on goal to three for Barton.
Noberto Vieira had three saves in recording the shutout for Cloud County.
The T-Birds will finish off the regular season with two non-conference matches. They play the Bethel College junior varsity at Newton on Sunday and host the Doane University junior varsity on Monday.
