Tigers hand CHS pair of league losses

CLAY CENTER  — The Clay Center Tigers dealt the Concordia High School volleyball team two North Central Kansas League losses on Thursday.
Concordia, now 3-10 overall and 1-3 in league play, fell to Clay Center in straight sets in the first match, 25-22, 25-20.
Clay Center won the second match in two sets, 25-17, 25-16.
Chloe Conway led Concordia with 19 kills, 17 digs and four blocks.
Jara Nordell finished with seven kills for the Panthers.
Carlie Carlgren added five kills.
Senior setter Kendall Reynolds had 35 assists and eight digs.
Zoe Bechard led the team with 32 digs.
Abby Fredrickson had 14 digs.
Terin Rundus finished with 10 digs.
“Overall, a disappointing night,” Concordia coach Alison Widen said. “We are still trying to find our stride, but we are not giving up on the season.”
The Concordia junior varsity dropped two matches to Clay Center.
The Panthers fell 13-25, 25-15, 25-9 in the first set and 35-13, 25-14 in the second.
The Concordia C-team lost 25-21, 25-19 and 14-25, 25-19, 15-11 to Clay Center.
Concordia will play at home for the first time this season when it hosts Marysville for two league matches on Tuesday.
