Wrestling club has eight place at state

TOPEKA — The Concordia Kids Wrestling Club had eight wrestlers place in the top six at the USA Wrestling Kansas 2019 State Folkstyle Championships held Saturday and Sunday at the Kansas Expocentre.
Keyan Miller won four straight matches to capture the state championship in the 155-pound class in the 14-and-under division.
Jordan Anguish, 113-pounds, high school, and Kassidy Leiszler, 96-104 pounds, high school girls, placed second in the tournament.
Kaleb Keiswetter finished third in the 55-pound class in the 10-and-under division.
Christian Belden, 75 pounds, 14-and-under, placed fourth.
Drake Blochlinger, 95 pounds, 10-and-under, finished fifth.
Kale Schroeder, 79 pounds, 10-and-under, and Sajen Kemling, 106 pounds, high school, each placed sixth.
Miller pinned Caden Ross, Maize, in 2:03 in the opening round and Joshua Cummings, Fort Riley, in 3:31 in the quarterfinals.
Moving into the semifinals, Miller won an 8-2 decision over Justice Compton, Frontenac Youth.
Miller pulled out a 4-3 win over Ethan Cunning, Bobcat, in the championship match.
Anguish received a bye in the first round and then won a 9-0 major decision over Hayden Diestelkamp, Junction City, in the quarterfinals. He defeated DQ DQ, DeSoto, 9-5 in the semifinals.
Damian Mendez, Dodge City, pinned Anguish in the title match.
Leiszler won an 8-0 major decision over Rebecca Jones, Pittsburg, and a 4-0 decision over Nataliz Galza, Hoisington, to advance to the championship match.
Amanda Newcomb, Oz Trojan, defeated Leiszler 5-3 in the finals.
Keiswetter won by technical fall, 15-0, over Mason Hughes, Eureka, and pinned Landon Higgins, Jayhawk, in 2:24.
Cooper Smith, Maize, edged Keiswetter 3-2 in the semifinals.
Keiswetter bounced back to beat Tucker Saferite, South Central Punisher, 9-3 in the consolation semifinals and Landon Higgins, Jayhawk, 7-0 in the third-place match.
Belden won 7-5 in sudden death victory over Austin Hamilton, Bonner Springs, in the first round. He lost an 11-0 major decision to Brock Sutton, Ottawa Mat Masters.
In the consolation semifinals, Belden pinned Jackson Fairbank, Independence, in 2:00. He lost by fall to Layne Sweat, Derby, in the third-place match.
Blochinger pinned Cael Weilert, South Central Punisher, in 1:22 in the first round and Garrison Vikander, Manhattan, in 28 seconds in the quarterfinals.
Chanlder Miller, Labette County Jr. Grizzlies, won a 10-4 decision over Blochlinger in the semifinals.
Blochlinger was beaten 9-3  by Cael Frazier, Jackson County, in the consolation semifinals. He won by fall over Vikander in 40 seconds in the fifth-place match.
Schroeder beat Logan Arnett, Derby, 10-5 and then lost in sudden victory to Cameron Coonrod, Manhattan.
In the consolation bracket, Schroeder beat Hayden Kelly, Hoisington Jr. Cardinals, 7-0 and pinned Jake Spencer, Paola, in 29 seconds.
Aaron Wyrick, Team Grind House, won a narrow 2-1 decision over Schroeder in the consolation semifinals.
Schroeder was beaten 4-0 by Matthew Wheeler, Scott City, in the fifth-place match.
Kemling pinned Matthew Peters, North Butler, in 1:05 in the first round and Jordan Ramirez, Bonner Springs, in 22 seconds in the quarterfinals.
Quentin Pauda, Ulysses, pinned Kemling in the semifinals.
Kemling was beaten 7-6 by DJ Knox, Goodland, in the consolation semifinals. He lost by fall to Kaleb Stroda, Abilene, in the fifth-place match.
