Chamber Corner

Posted

Please join us on May 27, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. at the Concordia Chamber of Commerce office, 207 W. Sixth Street for our weekly Chamber Coffee.

If you are interested in becoming a Chamber member or being a Chamber Coffee sponsor, please contact Annie Bergmann at 785-243-4290 or email info@concordiakansaschamber.com

Join us for coffee and donuts. Donuts provided by Me and Ma’s Bakery.   Keep up to date on all the events and activities happening in Concordia and the surrounding area.

Our coffee sponsor for May 27, 2025, is The National Orphan Train Complex.

The mission of the National Orphan Train Complex (NOTC) is to collect, preserve, interpret, and disseminate knowledge about the orphan trains, and the children and agents who rode them. The museum’s collections, exhibitions, programming, and research will instill a sense of pride for Riders and Descendants; engage historians and researchers, heritage visitors, and the general public; and further promote understanding of this nationally significant chapter of cultural and social history.

With nearly 5,000 visitors every year, our ten volunteers and staff welcome guests from across the United States and around the world. Every week we have at least one descendant of an Orphan Train Rider visit in person. Many more contact us for information or to request research.

Our 22nd Annual Celebration of Orphan Train Riders will be held June 12-14. We have a number of Descendants coming to Concordia for this event honoring all Orphan Train Riders. New this year is a Zoom option which will provide access to all four special speakers. The general public is invited to attend any events that are not ticketed events, which are mostly meals. A schedule of all events is available on our website (orphantraindepot.org), our Facebook page at orphantraindepot, or by stopping by the Welcome Center.

The NOTC is always looking for new board members and more volunteers. Anyone who would like to be a part of the number one reason why people choose to visit Concordia, please call 243-4471 or stop by the Morgan-Dowell Research Center.
