CONCORDIA, Kansas — The City of Concordia announces that City Manager Amy Lange has accepted a new professional opportunity and has submitted her resignation after more than eight and a half years of service to the community.

Lange, who has served as Concordia's City Manager since January 2018, will continue her career in local government with the City of Manhattan later this year.

During her tenure, Lange worked alongside the City Commission, City staff, residents, and community partners to advance the Commission's strategic priorities and strengthen Concordia's future. Under her leadership, the City made significant investments in infrastructure, financial stability, housing, economic development, airport, parks, and quality-of-life initiatives while securing millions of dollars in grant funding to benefit the community.

Mayor Ashley Hutchinson reflected on Lange's service and the lasting impact of her leadership.

"In the time Amy Lange has served as City Manager, our community has experienced tremendous progress, particularly in the area of housing. Under her leadership, we were able to take advantage of state incentive programs to develop the first new city housing addition in more than 40 years. This is a milestone that will have a lasting impact on our community. Amy will be remembered for this significant accomplishment and the dedication she brought to our city. We wish her the very best in her new role and understand this is an exciting opportunity for her to grow professionally while continuing to make a positive impact across the State of Kansas."

Lange expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Concordia community.

"Serving as Concordia's City Manager has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I am sincerely grateful to the City Commission for their trust and support, to our outstanding employees whose professionalism and dedication make local government work every day, and to the residents of Concordia for allowing me to serve this remarkable community. The progress we have achieved has been the result of countless partnerships and a shared commitment to making Concordia an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. I have every confidence that the City's future is bright."

The City Commission will begin the process of appointing an interim city manager while developing a plan to recruit Concordia's next City Manager. The City remains committed to ensuring a seamless leadership transition and continuing to provide the high-quality services residents expect.
