Concordia Police continue investigating alleged attempted murder on Sunday

Late Sunday evening, Aug. 17, Concordia Police Department (CPD) officers responded to the 300 block of East First Street for a report of an adult male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

According to a press release from CPD Chief Brent Gering, officers responded to this call at 11:04 p.m. On the scene, they found the adult male actively bleeding, and Concordia Fire Department (CFD) assisted in rendering life-saving aid at the scene.

CPD officers secured the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered investigative information. According to the press release, officers identified individuals connected to this incident, and detained them for questioning.

Officers continued working through the night to identify a primary suspect. Search warrants were then executed at the scene of the shooting and at a secondary location, and CPD officers continue working with outside agencies in an effort to locate and apprehend the suspect.

CPD officers have forwarded charges for first-degree attempted murder and two counts of aggravated robbery to the Cloud County Attorney. All involved individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
