100 YEARS AGO—JULY 2, 1925

Miltonvale is improving the park by adding a slipper slide and the children are showing that they really like it. A teeter board will be installed later. The Miltonvale park is said to be the most beautiful natural park on the Midland Trail… MARRIAGES: Miss Dardanell Lucile Breen to Mr. John Wilfred Begnoche… The Midland Trail will be designated by the national government as national highway. There will be only six roads across the United States to be a national highway. Only one will run thru each state… S.E. Rose, the Overland dealer, had a new gasoline pump installed at his place of business… The Midland Trail officials let the contact to repaint the markers on the highway from Kansas City to Denver and work started last week… BIRTHS: M.L. Albertsons have a girl.

75 YEARS—JUNE 29, 1950

A replica of the Liberty Bell was on display in Miltonvale. It is being trucked around the state before it will be turned over to the state for permanent display… BIRTHS: Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Pacey have a son. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Yost have a girl… Wheat harvest is in full swing. Test weight is running from 60 to 63 and yields about 12 to 25 bushels an acre. Wheat price $1.91…MARRIAGES: Miss Charlene Skinner to Mr. Edward Otto Zahn… Concession rights for the Annual Rodeo and Horse Show will be open for bid this year. Any individual or organization within the trade territory of Miltonvale is eligible… 

50 YEAR AGO—JUNE 26, 1975

The first load of wheat for the 1975 season has been brought in by Buster Halepeska. It had a 60 lb. test wt. and moisture content was 16.5… MARRIAGES: Mary Margaret Keeshan to Michael F. Pacey. Walene Bulleigh to Steve Graham. Penny McNeil to Steve Willard…  Rainfall for the week 3.79… Turner’s, Bestyet  Grocery Store has grapes 59 cents a lb., carrots 2 lbs. 49 cents, short shank ham 14 to 18 lb. average 97 cents a lb. and oranges 15 for 98 cents…

25 YEARS AGO—JUNE, 2000

Mike Cote and Curtis Pacey recently participated in the 2000 Solar Splash, an International collegiate boat regatta.
