After 48 years of service to North Central Kansas Medical Center (NCKMC), Theresa Stensaas has retired. She started on May 17, 1977, when the hospital was St. Joseph Hospital; later, the name changed to Cloud County Health Center, and then NCKMC. Along with name changes, Stensaas saw many changes over the past 48 years: she has worked with three different radiologists and four radiology department directors. In transcribing doctor notes, she went from using carbon paper in the typewriter to computers and copiers.
Lacey Champlin, radiology supervisor, presented Stensaas with a clock inscribed with her name and years of service. Champlin said, “Theresa has always been there for us and took on many different jobs over the years. She has supported our hospital in so many ways, including helping with fundraisers and events, and navigating several changes over the 48 years.” Stensaas also received a gift certificate for her gift of choice.
Stensaas does not plan to put her feet up and do nothing. She will be attending numerous ball games to cheer on her grandkids, and she plans to join the NCKMC Volunteers, as well as a few other organizations.
NCKMC staff, former co-workers, family members and friends in the community attended the reception honoring Stensaas on May 7, 2025.
