Wendy Genereux passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 28, 2025, at her home in Clyde. She was born November 5, 1964, in Russell, Kansas, along with a twin brother Wade, to Everett A. and Fay A. (Thomas) Sechtem.
Wendy was a 1984 graduate of Kearney High School, Kearney, NE. She married Bill Genereux on January 16, 1993, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Concordia, KS.
She worked for many years in the food industry as a bakery deli manager and supervisor for Boogaarts Food Stores, and later became a homemaker and operated a home-based business, Wendy’s Party Treats. She was active in the St. John the Baptist church at Clyde as a funeral meal group leader and helped to operate the church food pantry. She cared deeply about her community, proudly serving on the city council and as Mayor of Clyde.
She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary of Clyde. Wendy enjoyed coffee on the porch, going to her children’s school and sports activities, cooking, camping, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Bill Genereux (Clyde, KS); her children, Emily Genereux (Manhattan, KS), Thomas Genereux (Clyde, KS); her brother, Weston Sechtem (Independence, MO) and sister-in-law CheriLea Sechtem (Battlefield, MO), and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Fay Sechtem, and her brothers, Wade and Steve Sechtem.
The visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Chaput Mortuary in Clyde.
A Vigil/Rosary Service will be held 6 p.m., on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, led by Fr. Steven Heina. Family will greet friends after the Rosary Service in the fellowship hall.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., March 7, 2025, at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde, Kansas, with Fr. Steven Heina officiating. The burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.
