Panther girls place fifth

MINNEAPOLIS — The Concordia High School girls’ track and field team placed fifth in the Minneapolis Invitational on April 30.

Concordia scored 74 points in the meet.

Washington County won the girls’ team title with 102 points. Chapman finished second with 93 and Smoky Valley was third with 84.

The Concordia boys placed ninth in the meet with 30 points.

Chapman won the meet with 149 points. Nickerson was second with 74 and Smith Center was third with 67.5.

Hannah Bridwell, Kynlee Hamel, Charlize Cash and Gabi Lange placed in three individual events each for the Concordia girls.

Bridwell ran 2:29.91 to finish second in the 800-meter run. Teammate Rylie Jessup was sixth (2:37.58).

Running 13:03.74, Bridwell placed second in the 3,200-meter run. She was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.85.

Lillian Nuss finished fourth in the 400 for the Panthers with a time of 1:04.27.

Hamel made 4-10 to place second in the high jump. She was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.32 and sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.47.

 Madalyn Bowers finished fifth in the 100 dash (13.36).

Lange finished fourth in the high jump by making 4-8. She was fourth in the pole vault by clearing 8-6 and fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 33-2.

Cash turned in a time of 16.43 to place second in the 100-meter hurdles. She was third in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.12 and fourth in the triple jump with a best of 33-4 1/2.

Concordia got a third-place finish by its 4x100 relay team of Nuss, Hamel, Bowers and Carlie Carlgren with a 52.86 clocking.

Nuss, Lange, Cash and Brexlynn Koch ran 4:26.18 to place fourth in the 4x400 relay.

Aubrey Stahlman was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 30-6.

The Concordia boys got a pair of second-place finishes by Kaide Gropp.

Gropp ran 11.31 to place second in the 100 dash and was second in the 200 dash in 23.13.

Concordia’s 4x100 relay team of Gropp, Ryker Wildeman, Cody Trost and Jagger Johnson placed third in 46.43.

Isaias Irigoyen made 5-8 to finish fourth in the high jump for the Panthers.

Trost placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 38-11 1/2.

Concordia’s 4x400 relay team of Trost, Wildeman, Gropp and Dane Cleveland placed fifth in 3:42.69.

The Panthers will compete in the North Central Kansas League meet at Marysville on Friday.
