CCCC to host art show

Cloud County Community College will host its annual High School Art Day on Friday in Bryant Gymnasium on the Concordia Campus.
Students from area high schools will have various pieces of artwork on display. The public is welcome, at no charge, to view the artwork from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
The public will have an opportunity to vote for the Viewer's Choice Award.
Throughout the morning, students will participate in breakout sessions that will include a sidewalk chalk competition, digital photography, advertising and marketing, painting and mixed media and screen printing, signage and vehicle graphics.
Workshop instructors will be Kelli Oestreich, senior art director at Walz Tetrick Advertising; Nick Jones, instructor of photography and graphic design; Amy Kern, instructor of fine arts and graphic design; and Kurt Funk, DMD Designs & Graphics.
During the show, categories that will be judged include: Painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, photography, ceramics, mixed media, sculpture, and sidewalk chalk art.
In addition to the Viewer's Choice Award, outstanding work in each category will be recognized with a trophy. There will be trophies for best of show and best of each category.
Judges for the art show will be Jennifer Taphorn, owner of Taphorn Design, and Bridgitte Ashley Bruna, owner of Bridgette Bruna Art and Design.
Winners of all competitions will be announced in Cook Theatre beginning at 1 p.m.
Students from the following schools will be participating in the art show:
Centralia, Clay Center Community, Clifton-Clyde, Concordia, Frankfurt, Southern Cloud, Linn, Marysville, Pike Valley, Rock Hills and Smith Center.
