“3 Squirrels And A Tray of Nuts” coming to Brown Grand Theatre

'3 Squirrels And A Tray Of Nuts,' an original play written by Kristina Frost, is coming to the Brown Grand.
The comedy centers around the character 'Vinny' - played by Ethan Evert - and his obsession with the end of a joke he heard. Throw in a supporting cast of wacky family and friends, and the laughs ensue.
"I'm a big fan of 'Seinfeld,'" says Frost, referencing the landmark television series widely regarded as the most popular comedic show in history. The series is famously known as "a show about nothing."
Frost says the idea for her play originated with a dare from her husband. "He basically dared me to write a play about nothing," she said with a laugh. "Once I had the joke for the play, I knew it was going to be the title, and then it all kind of came together."
Performing in the play along with Evert are Sam Sacco, playing the role of 'Joey'; Vinny's wife 'Sheila,' played by Katie Mac; 'Nurse Gina,' portrayed by Mikki Nelson; 'Carlitta,' played by Sierra Portenier; and 'Manny,' played by Barrett Jones.
Returning to the stage as an actor for the first time in 25 years, Sue Sutton will play the role of 'Ma.'
Lead-actor Evert is excited about performing the play in front of an audience. 'I like that it's a local thing, written by someone from town. We're all having a great time."
Sutton had a one-word answer for her feelings about performing on the stage again: "Fun!"
Whitney Jones makes her debut as the director of '3 Squirrels And A Tray Of Nuts.' Jones is the daughter of the playwright Frost.
Any pressure directing her mother's play? "Hell yeah!" Jones said with a laugh.
Since Jones is the manager at Jitters Coffee House, she was asked if she had any jitters about directing.
"I feel like it's all come very natural," she said, "and that was surprising to me, because I'm just not very good at giving criticism. But this is a great cast; they're insanely talented - one of the best casts I've ever worked with. They bring so much energy to the play."
Along with the play, the cast will also perform the Carol Burnett skits 'As The Stomach Turns' and 'Passion On 10th Avenue.'
Performance dates at the Brown Grand Theater are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 13-15. All shows times are 7 p.m. Tickets at the door are $6.
