$300,000 In Windfarm Funds To Cloud County

An annual gift of $300,000 in Meridian Way Wind Farm funds has been presented to Cloud County by EDP Renewables.
EDP Renewables, which operates Meridian Way Wind Farm, south of Concordia, presents the funds each year to the county to be used to support innovative projects that enhance qualify of life, prosperity and safety of the citizens of the county by creating additional educational, recreational, social, health, community development and economic opportunities for them and for existing and new businesses in Cloud County.
Funds provided by EDP Renewables have been used for several projects throughout Cloud County.
A deadline of March 30 has been set for entities to submit applications for 2023 wind farm funds.
Applications received for the funds will be reviewed by the county board of commissioners.
The county board has received two applications for wind farm funds so far this year.
The Concordia Senior Center presented an application for $13,913.34 in wind farm funds to the county board during its regular meeting on Monday.
If awarded, the Concordia Senior Center will use the funds to repair the delivery parking lot located behind the building, located at 109 West Seventh St.
The Concordia Senior Center received an estimate of $13,913.34 from Mike Loeffler for material and labor to remove and haul off the concrete from the 33x32.2 back parking area, haul in sand to bring to grade, install half-inch rebar and pour concrete back five and a half inches thick with fiber mesh in concrete as well as replace curb tops and replace 65-foot downspouts.
