Bowers announces bid for re-election

Kansas Senator Elaine Bowers, a Republican from Concordia, has announced she has filed for re-election to the 36th District seat.
Bowers will be seeking a third term in the Senate after representing the 107th District in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2007-2012.
“It's been a privilege to serve Kansans, first in the House of Representatives and now in the Senate, for the past 13 years,” Bowers said, “I continue to be humbled by the support of friends, neighbors and colleagues. I am in awe of the people in the 36th District. Their hard work and perseverance through good times should be celebrated and their interests remain my top priority.”
Bowers was elected Majority Whip by the colleagues in 2016 and serves as the chair of the Ethics, Elections and Local Government Committee. She also serves on the Transportation, Judiciary, Utilities, Legislative Post Audit, Interstate Cooperation and Capitol Preservation committees. She has served as a board member on the National Conference of State Legislative Foundation Board and co-chairs the National Conference of State Legislatures Agriculture Task Force.
“Senator Bowers' work ethic and experience in the business community has been a welcome asset for committee members and the entire Senate. She works tirelessly to represent the area of Kansas she has called home for her entire life,” Senate President Susan Wagle said.
Bowers and her husband, Charlie, operate Concordia Chevrolet/Buick, Concordia Auto Mart and Beloit Buick GMS. They have four children and five grandchildren.
The Senate 36th District includes Cloud, Rooks, eastern Phillips, Smith, Osborne, Russell, Jewell, Mitchell, Lincoln, Republic, Ottawa, Washington and western Marshall counties.
