Brown Grand receives grant to help fund new seats

The Brown Grand Opera House, Inc. has received a $115,000 grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to support the “Seating the Next Generation,” a capital campaign to replace the 94-year-old seats in the historic theatre.
The grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, along with the other grants and gifts, put the fundraising campaign to 81 percent of the goal. More grant and fundraising initiatives are in process.
“We are ecstatic to have support for this project from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. A gift of this size is transformational for the theatre and for our community. We are honored to have been selected by the foundation, and we couldn't be more pleased to have them as a dedicated partner for this project,” Melissa Swenson, Brown Grand Theatre board member and chair of the seating committee, said.
Gifts for the seating project can be mailed to Brown Grand Theatre, 310 West Sixth St., Concordia, Kan., designated with Seating the Next Generation, or can be made online at www.browngrand.org.
Anyone interested in purchasing the old seats should call the Brown Grand at 785-243-2553 or by email at director@browngrand.org.
