Buckley is student of the month

Bailey Buckley has been chosen as Concordia High School’s (CHS) Student of the Month for March.

The daughter of Tamie Buckley and Jeff and Kayla Buckley, she has participated in dance and cheer, and is a peer tutor at CHS.

“I've been doing dance since I was little,” Buckley said. “I was on a competition team out of Clay Center for a awhile. I really like it.”

Her favorite dance routines are the ones that include hip-hop or contemporary music. “We did a routine to Beyonce and that was pretty fun.”

Buckley has been a cheerleader at CHS for three years and enjoys watching sports. “Wrestling is my favorite,” she said. “You're right there and it's exciting to watch. You can really get into it.”

In her spare time, Buckley enjoys cooking, baking, cruising on road trips, and hanging out with friends.

Is she a good cook? “I was in 4-H for awhile, and did a lot of cooking and baking. My favorite food to make is fajitas. But when I bake, it's the pumpkin roll. I make it every Thanksgiving, and it's really good!”

Buckley says that traveling – road-tripping – is one of her favorite pastimes. “One summer we drove to Kentucky and then Minnesota. It was fun to see everything. And then closer to home, places like Milford (Lake) are always a good time. I like fishing a lot.”

Buckley plans to attend Cloud County Community College (CCCC) to finish her general education, then go into the two-year nursing program. “I'm going to Cloud and get my RN and hopefully be on the dance team there. And then we'll see.”

Being a nurse was always in the back of Buckley's mind since she was little. “It's just something I've thought about for awhile, I guess. I like helping people, and this seems a good way to do that. I've been doing work study at the hospital, and it's been interesting. Right now I think I'd like to be an ER nurse, but there's so many different fields to choose from.”

When Buckley looks to the future she sees herself as not very far from home. “I hope I'm working as a nurse somewhere nearby. I really am a homebody. I like being close to my family. So hopefully I'll be close, raising kids with the love of my life. And doing lots of road-tripping!”

Congratulations to Bailey Buckley, CHS Student of the Month.
