CCCC board to consider selection fo VP position

Approval of Dr. Kim Zant as the new vice president for academic affairs is among the consent agenda items included on the agenda for a special meeting of the Cloud County Community College board of trustees scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The search committee and interim president Amber Knoettgen have recommended Zant to replace Dr. Pedro Leite, who resigned his position as vice president for academic affairs and student success in August.
Zant has a bachelor of business administration-marketing degree from Texas Tech University, a bachelor of arts degree in business education from Fort Hays State University, a master of business administration degree from the University of South Carolina and a higher education leadership doctorate from Southwestern University in Winfield.
Zant has served as career pathways manager at Grossmont/Cuyamaca Community College District, El Cajun, Calif.; assistant dean of instruction at Colorado Mountain College, Rifle, Colo.; strong workforce career readiness and job placement research analyst/adjunct faculty, Grossmont/Cuyamaca Community College District; agriculture, business and personal service dean, Seward County Community College; economic instructor, Seward County Community College; online instructor and course developer, EduKan, Great Bend; adjunct faculty, Seward County Community College; owner of Thomas Landscape and Nursery, Liberal; co-owner of Allen and Fitzgerald Medical Clinic, Liberal.
Also during the special meeting, the board will participate in a Higher Learning Commission mock interview with Dr. Betty Stevens.
Cloud County will have a comprehensive evaluation by the Higher Learning Commission in October.
The Higher Learning Commission is a regional accreditation agency that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in a 19-state region.
