CCCC to break ground on new agriculture facility

Cloud County Community College will break ground on a new agriculture facility at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, and is asked to meet at the Welcome Center for transportation to the site.
The agriculture facility will help Cloud County meet the needs of its growing enrollment in the program by providing space for the precision ag equipment and livestock. It will also allow for community and business outreach opportunities.
On October 14, the CCCC Foundation executive committee approved assisting in funding the project of up to $140,000 which will cover the costs expected to complete the facility.
“I can't believe we're finally here. The whole process has taken almost two years to complete, and I couldn't be more excited for Cloud and what this will mean to our ag department,” Heather Gennette, Foundation director, said.
The Foundation has received a number of grants for the project including $100,000 from the Sunderland Foundation, $100,000 from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, $5,000 from the Community Foundation for Cloud County and $23,000 from the Cloud County commissioners.
Cloud County Co-op Elevator Association has also donated equipment to the project.
“We are grateful to the amazing grantmakers who largely contributed to the success of the ag facility,” Gennette said, “When writing these grants, you never know what you are going to receive, and I was completely overwhelmed by their generosity toward this project.”
