CCCC has ribbon cutting for new Agriculture Arena

Members of the Cloud County Community College board of trustees attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Agriculture Arena on campus during its regular meeting on Tuesday.
The 40x100 multi-purpose agriculture facility was completed in May of this year and gifted to the college by the Cloud County Community College Foundation in June.
Ground was broken on the $400,000 facility in October 2019.
The arena will meet the needs of the agriculture department's growing enrollment and provide space for equipment and livestock. It will serve as lab space for classes, practice space for judging and equestrian teams and presentation space for demonstrations and training sessions.
Grant funding from the Cloud County board of commissioners, the Sunderland Foundation and the Dane G. Hansen Foundation helped fund the facility. The remainder of the funding came from the Cloud County Community College Foundation executive committee.
There were no action items on the agenda for the trustees' meeting.
Included in the consent items approved by the trustees was the hiring of Amanda Kendall to the position of Allied Health coordinator and nursing instructor, effective November 1. She replaces JoDee Ball.
Kendall, who is a registered nurse, received her associate degree in nursing at Cloud County. She has worked as the assistant director of nursing at Nicol Home in Glasco, as a staff nurse at Republic County Hospital and as a Hospice nurse at Solomon Valley Hospice.
Also during the meeting, the board met in executive session for 20 minutes with president Amber Knoettgen, vice president for academic affairs Kim Zant, vice president for administrative services Caesar Wood, human resources director Chris Wilson and college attorney Justin Ferrell for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel. No action was taken following the session.
