CCCC trustees approve 2022-2023 budget

Following a public hearing during which no comments were presented, the Cloud County Community College board of trustees approved a 2022-2023 budget that leaves the estimated tax rate unchanged from the previous year.
The budget approved by the board calls for an estimated tax rate of 29.241 mills. That is the same as the actual tax rate in 2021-2022 and down slightly from the tax rate of 29.256 mills in 2019-2020.
Budgeted expenditures and transfers for 2020-2023 total $26,500,633 as compared to actual expenditures and transfers of $17,384,373 for the previous year.
Also approved by the board during the meeting was a resolution authorizing the college to exceed the revenue neutral rate for 2022-2023.
The college receives a tax levy on the taxable tangible property from the district to finance a portion of the budget not financed by another other source provided by law.
Based on the preliminary assessed valuation of $126,960,182, provided by the Cloud County Clerk, there will be an increase in revenue produced by property taxes.
In accordance with Kansas statute, the college board of trustees is required to approve a resolution to accept any increased amount of revenue produced by property taxes that exceeds the revenue neutral rate, which is 27.697.
There were no comments presented during the public hearing on the revenue neutral rate hearing.
