CCHC to break ground on new hospital

Cloud County Health Center will kick off the construction of its new $40.35 million, modern medical facility, to be located at 155 West College Drive, with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 1 at 4 p.m.
Construction of the new hospital is expected to take about 19 months.
Cloud County Health Center (CCHC) administrator David Garnas, during a presentation at the Broadway Plaza in July of 2019, announced the plans to move forward with the construction of the 78,000 square-foot facility without seeking local tax support to help cover the costs.
CCHC worked with Dougherty Mortgage, LLC, on an application for financing through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Two days after that announcement, the Concordia city commission approved authorizing then Mayor Mark Matthew to sign a development agreement with CCHC for property in College Drive Park for the new hospital.
Under the College Drive Park Land Pricing Policy, CCHC qualified for free land for the development.
The Cloud County Community College board of trustees approved entering into a development agreement with CCHC for Lot 5 on College Drive.
TreanorHL was selected as the architect for the project.
CCHC selected McCownGordon Construction to provide construction management at-risk services.
Garnas announced on June 12, 2020, that CCHC was notified it had obtained financing through the USDA for the project.
It was announced in January of this year that TreanorHL had completed the design process.
McCownGordon, the general contractor on the project, completed the bidding process in January.
Garnas said that CCHC received 126 total bids.
“Everything came in under budget and the board signed the guaranteed maximum price,” Garnas said. “I am very excited to see this come to a reality.”
