CHS Student of the Month — Terin Rundus

You have to take a deep breath when listing all the activities Concordia High School senior Terin Rundus is involved with: volleyball, basketball, track and field, Student Council, Language Club, Friends of Rachel, Science Club, USD 333 Wellness Committee, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Energize Youth Group, Belleville FUMC, Discovery 4-H Club, Republic County 4-H Ambassadors, and the National Honor Society.
"My free time is limited," she admits with a laugh.
The daughter of Gene and Tandy Rundus, Terin loved growing up on a farm and experiencing the joys of a rural environment. "It's my roots. I love being out in the country, and all outdoor activities. Family is really close."
As with most people around the world, the COVID-19 scourge has dampened Terin's senior year of high school. "Things are definitely not normal. It has forced us to change so much. Even losing something like the homecoming dance makes you stop and think. I had to go into quarantine once, and that really makes you realize how much you took for granted."
Terin has learned to appreciate the simple things in life. "Even now, just little things like a sunset makes me smile," she said. "And, of course, ice cream."
Her favorite type of ice cream? "I love it all, but I could eat cookie dough over and over again."
Terin's effervescent smile and upbeat personality will serve her well as she moves forward in life. She will attend Kansas State University next year, and plans to major in dietetics and minor in exercise science.
"I'm excited for a change of pace," she said. "I'm going to miss the people here, but I'm eager to experience something different. I'm not 100% sure of where I'll end up, but my final goal is to have a diversified health business. I want to be able to offer a well-rounded wellness program that includes not just physical health and diet, but mental health as well."
When she looks to the future, Terin wants a family life in a rural environment. But before that, she definitely sees herself living near a beach for a few years. "I'd like to be a beach girl for a little while; live down south, or on the coast. I have an aunt and uncle in Florida, and I love going there. I know how to surf!"
Congratulations to Terin Rundus, the Concordia High School's Student Of The Month for September.
