Classification changes for jail employees approved

Classification changes for employees at the Cloud County Law Enforcement Center were approved by the Cloud County board of commissioners during its regular meeting on Tuesday.
A classification change for Austin Howard from Corrections Officer to Jail Administrator with a wage change of $15.32 to $18.40 effective February 16 was approved by the board.
The board approved classification changes for Joel Anderson, Christopher Santos and Matthew Nevins with a wage change to $15.93 effective February 16.
Jason Martin, Jacob Thoman and Jessica Presler, representing the city of Jamestown, presented an application for Meridian Way Wind Farm funds in the amount of $25,000 to the Cloud County board of commissioners during its regular meeting on Tuesday.
The funds would be used for the construction of a new City Hall. The total cost of the project is estimated at $110,000.
Information presented to the board stated that the original City Hall was destroyed by fire in 2000. The community renovated another building, however the outer walls were intended to be interior walls and not meant to protect the building from the elements. After many years of water exposure, the building now has an abundance of mold. The city plans to build on the east side of Walnut Street in the same location as the original City Hall.
Also during the meeting, Jeremy Hacker, United Bank and Trust, met with the board to discuss the refinancing of the bonds for Law Enforcement Center.
The board made a call to Dustin Avey, Piper Sandler, to ask about local banks financing the project.
Krista Mann and Cristian Hernandez, Invenergy, met with the board and discussed their company and the Grain Belt Express transmission line project that runs from Dodge City to Chicago. They said that contact with landowners will be ongoing during 2020.
Andy Asch, Highway Department administrator, reported to the board that the department is demoing a skid steer with a tree cutter option this week, the excavator needs work and he is considering purchasing a replacement. He is working on the engineer report for the state.
Jason Wheeler, Central Kansas Electric, discussed his bid for the Courthouse camera upgrade with the board. He stated that he had pulled all the wire on the original system when it was installed as a contractor for File Safe.
The board voted to approve chairman Bill Czapanskiy to sign the liquor license for Rick Simpson for the Cloud County Fairgrounds that was approved by the Lincoln Township board.
The following expenses, totaling $199,490.14, were approved by the board:
General Fund, $83,568.60; Road & Bridge, $48,578.80; Juvenile Reinvestment, $68.24; Special Building, $17,451; Juvenile Justice, $117.89; Community Corrections, $333.07; Appraisal, $220.56; County Health, $6,154.68; Solid Waste, $18,510.78; Election, $2,645.51; Solid Waste, $18,510.78; County Tourism & Convention, $20,157.82; Employee Benefits, $1,000; Vending Machines, $26.
