Cloud County board meets with department heads

The Cloud County board of commissioners met with department heads during its regular meeting on Tuesday.
Department head reports presented to the board include:
JoDee LeDuc, County Treasurer – Waiting to hear from the state to begin printing tax statements and discussed emails received from other counties warning of individuals going to courthouses in Kansas and filming in an attempt of a lawsuit.
Jerry Collins, IT director – Reminded everyone to be aware of email scams, and is working on inventory.
Andy Asch, Highway Department administrator – Working on rock jobs, and chemical sales have been down.
Barry Porter, County Appraiser – Waiting on Ag values. Weill be starting final review and discussed that new photos are taken every six years.
Henry Eilert, Maintenance manager – Fall clean up, and finished the sign at the Health Department.
Shella Thoman, County Clerk – General election had just over 56 percent turnout, food challenge deadline was November 15, open enrollment for insurance will be on November 27 and overall the health insurance premiums decreased.
Mike Hake, Solid Waste director – Reported that recycling of cardboard is expanding and discussed possibly hiring a third part-time employee.
Also during the meeting, the board approved a resolution appointing Regine L. Thompson as assistant to the County Attorney for the purpose of investigation and prosecution of all matters in Case No. 18-CR-166.
The board approved the chairman to sign the engagement letter for the year ending December 31, 2018 with Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris Chartered.
The following expenses, totaling $312,445.70, were approved by the board:
General fund, $137,694.06; special machinery and equipment, $36,891.12; juvenile reinvestment, $24.57; juvenile justice, $162.35; appraisal, $462.51; county health, $10,853.96; election, $8,291.29; vending machines, $26; soil conservation, $576.25; historical museum, $819.62; road & bridge, $67,350.79; special bridge, $92.61; Pawnee Mental Health, $2,086.45; community corrections, $592.34; Cloud County Tourism, $281.40; noxious weed, $92.21; solid waste, $41,548.99; employee benefits, $1,000; OCCK, $1,902.73; services for the elderly, $1,696.45.
