Cloud County Head Start is permanently closed

Cloud County Head Start has closed permanently, effective immediately.
Clay County Child Care Center, Inc., which temporarily closed Cloud County Head Start back in September, announced in a news release on Tuesday that it has been determined that it will be unable to reopen the program.
The closing of Cloud County Head Start will impact 24 children ages 3-5.
In the release, Clay County Child Care Center, Inc. executive director Audrey Waid stated, "We are aware of the impact closing Cloud County Head Start will have on the enrolled children and families we serve and have notified them of the closures. Serving the children and families in the community for the past 30 years has been a privilege. Thank you to all of our community partners for working with us to provide early childhood education services to the children in your community. Your partnerships have been invaluable."
Head Start is a nationwide, federally funded pre-school program designed to ensure that all pre-school children, especially those from low-income families and children with disabilities, have the skills to succeed in kindergarten and future school experiences.
Clay County Child Care Center, Inc. offers Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic and Washington counties.
Early Head Start services will still be offered in Cloud County.
