Cloud County records third COVID-19 related death; has 38 new cases

The Cloud County Health Department announced Wednesday the death of a Cloud County resident who had tested positive for COVID-19.

There have now been three COVID-19 related deaths in Cloud County, with two coming in two days.

It was reported by the Health Department that the person was in their 70s. No other information will be released.

As COVID-19 continues to spread throughout Cloud County we must do all that we can to keep each other safe,” Cloud County Health Department administrator Brandi Bray stated in a news release, “Please continue to be vigilant by washing your hands, social distance by at least six feet or more, wear a mask when social distancing is not possible and when you are in public places and stay at home if you are not feeling well. It is very important that people can continue to follow the guidelines to help decrease the spread of COVID-19.”

Cloud County had a record high 38 COVID-19 cases reported on Wednesday.

There have now been 188 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the county during the month of November, and 377 since March.

Cloud County had 115 COVID-19 cases reported in October. Prior to that the high for a single month was 25 in August.

According to New York Times Coronavirus tracking nationwide, Cloud County now has, per capita, the third highest rate of COVID-19 infections in the state of Kansas.
