College board issues statement supporting Knoetgen

Following four executive sessions for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel, totaling an hour and 15 minutes, the Cloud County Community College board of trustees adjourned without taking any action during a special meeting Wednesday night.
It was the second special meeting, via Zoom video conferencing, in less than a week for the board.
The board voted unanimously to not renew the contract of college president Dr. Adrian Douglas during a meeting last Friday night. It also voted to appoint Amber Knoettgen, vice president of administrative services, as the interim president.
Prior to adjourning on Wednesday night, board president Jesse Pounds gave a statement.
"The board of trustees of Cloud County Community College want to formally and publicly announce our full support and trust in Amber Knoetgen as interim president and Pedro Leite as VP of academic affairs and student success. We understand this is a time of change that can bring out apprehension. We ask for unity and optimism over division and negativity at this time. We are excited to move forward into the new era here at Cloud County Community College. We thank you, the public, faculty and staff for your trust in our leadership and the leadership in place at the college," Jesse Pounds said.
There were more than 60 audience members in attendance for the meeting.
The board met in three executive sessions, totaling an hour, with Knoettgen, vice president of academic affairs and student success Pedro Leite and college attorney Justin Ferrell.
The fourth executive session of 15 minutes included Knoettgen, Leite and human resources Chris Wilson.
